What is Unity with God?

Whenever we think of being united, it’s easy to picture it with other people for a certain cause. However, what is the definition of unity? Unity is another word for ‘one’. In other words, there is no separation.  In the community of Christ, unity with others is important, so how can we unite with one mind and heart? For example, our chapters in Africa realize how important this is and so plan to have events to facilitate this. However, it’s about developing unity with God first. We often hear this, but what does it actually look like in daily life?

In 1 Corinthians 6:17, it states, “But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.”

When we unite with God, we unite with Him in spirit. Our members in the United States are also trying to develop this unity, through the word of God and prayer. Our relationship with God and others is like a network tower or satellite. If we’re not connected to God, then our connection and communication with others will be cut off or extremely low.

Romans 10:7 says, “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”

We must hear His message and read His words if we ever want to unite fully with God. How can we unite with Him, if we don’t hear or understand what He says? So we must turn to the Word and to prayer. Bible study is very useful and important in this aspect. When we can’t understand God’s Word, even as we read, having Bible study with someone who understands more and having a church community is vital to Christian growth.

YEF hopes that each person reading this may hold onto God’s teachings. As it says in 1 Corinthians 13:12, “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known”, we dream that everyone will long to know God fully.
